The year is 2002 and the local league in Madagascar is coming to an end. In the second to last matchday SO l'Emyrne tied 2-2 with a very dubious last-minute penalty awarded to the opposing team, the draw meant l'Emyrne had no more shot at the title.
In the last match, with the champion already crowned, SO l'Emyrne decided to do the unthinkable as a sign of protest: the players began scoring against their own net. Not once, or twice, or ten times, but 149 times nonstop. The final result was 149-0, and the opposing team basically didn't touch the ball once.
The fans in the stadium demanded their money back, and there was outrage throughout the entire country. At the end there were heavy fines and suspensions given to many of l'Emyrne's players, coaches and directors.
Because of the spirit of what occurred many don't consider this a result that should be considered, but the fact of the matter is that it was an official league match with no outside interference.
The previous record was a 36-0 in the 1885 Scottish Cup, and it's fair to say this record will probably last another 117 years or more.
