Olympikus is a prominent Brazilian sportswear brand that, despite being more known for running shoes and clothing, had it's moment in the world of soccer. Amongst the many clubs they worked with, they most notably manufactured Flamengo's jerseys from 2009 to 2013.
In mid-2013, when it was already known that Flamengo would switch over to Adidas, Olympikus produced what is known as the Eternal Jersey. This jersey was a gift, not to be used on the field, but to have it placed in Flamengo's museum where it is proudly displayed to this day. There was only one unit produced, and it is literally made from bulletproof vests and firefighter gear.
To prove that it is "eternal" Olympikus put the jersey under extreme tests, making it undergo trials of intense heat, freezing temperatures, impact and resistance. The design itself is reminiscent of Flamengo's 2009 home jersey, the first with the brand and from a season that ended with a national title.
The Eternal Jersey is often forgotten, but regardless it is one of the most unique items ever created in the history of this sport.
