In the spirit of Formula 1 racing in Las Vegas for the first time this past weekend, we wanted to share our personal favorite racing competition: Superleague Formula.
It started in 2008 in the UK and used the slogan “The Beautiful Race: Football at 300 km/h”. As the slogan suggests, the idea was to bring soccer passion onto the racing track by having major soccer clubs such as Milan, Sevilla, Rangers, Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool and many others, sponsor the cars.
Despite some immediate success, over time many clubs pulled away from the project and major sponsors were dropped. By 2011 the revolutionary fusion between soccer and racing had come to an end.
